What asbestos removal in Central Coast actually involves

Friable asbestos crumbles to powder under hand pressure; bonded asbestos is set in cement or another hard binder, and can become friable when it is damaged or old. Central Coast Council says the same about bonded asbestos damaged by fire, hail or water blasting: it can become friable, and then it must be managed and removed by a licensed friable asbestos removal contractor. Before a licensed job starts

The removalist notifies SafeWork NSW at least five calendar days ahead. The licence holder then gives notice of the work and its start date to you, the occupier, the owner and the immediate neighbours, and puts up asbestos warning signs.

After the work

A clearance inspection and certificate come before anyone moves back in, from a licensed asbestos assessor for Class A work or a competent person for Class B work. Keep the certificate with the disposal receipt. The disposal page covers the two Council facilities.

Central Coast Council reports that it is not aware of any naturally occurring asbestos in the Central Coast area, so asbestos found on a property is a building material or dumped waste. Council's own line for older homes is that asbestos may be found in any property built or renovated before 1987; the NSW Government's is 1990.
